A Royal Wedding Friday Funny

Pic of Royal wedding family

What a Funny Friday we have on our hands this week, with a Royal Wedding on in England.

Just the right time to have a bit of a laugh at the Royal Family.

Everyone has been inquiring into the "real" Kate Middleton story. Well here it is in song by Kate that is bigger than Broadway!

But a little known fact about the Royal Family, is that they are in fact all Indian.

I know everyone is shocked by the news, but all is fully explained in the following video.

The Royal Family are certainly a very close knit group:

Knitted Puppets Royal Family

Queen Elizabeth has been busting out a few moves, while doing some serious dance practice for the big event.

And just as well she did, because here is what is planned for the wedding's grand entrance.

Some people say that the Royal Family are just a bunch of "Plastic People".

Lego Royal Family

And others have them set up as a bit more flexible than this.

But what if the Royals were just normal Brits, that we could all relate to.
Here is a bit of a peek into what such Royal life would be like.

Needless to say that Big Passy wasn't invited to the Royal Party, and so I'll just have to make do with mixing with my great mates "the commoners".

Enjoy,
Big Passy Wasabi

Lang Lang Ute Show 2011

Bundy Bear and Friends

Recently we attended the Ute Show at Lang Lang which is about an hour from Passy World.

Utes are the Australian term for country style farm "pickup trucks".

There were some awesome machines at the show, and on a perfect sunny day, it was a great day out.

The following Wondershare Flash Photogallery Slideshow highlights the many sights we saw.

The slideshow is 7meg in size, and so may take a while to load in.

If you would like to see the above slideshow full size, then click on this link: http://www.passyworld.com/passyHTMLs/LL2011Show.html

We also filmed the Flash Slideshow using Camtasia 7.1 to create the following YouTube Video.

Ute shows are a great day out mixing with country folks, and we hope to do another one soon.

Enjoy,

Scratch Soccer Game Part 3

Welcome to the third and final part of our Scratch Soccer Game. Click the top right hand corner green flag to start. (Make sure computer sound is on, so you can hear the sound effects).

Then use the keyboard arrow keys on your computer to move side to side and kick the ball. If you miss a ball and it goes through to the yellow line, then you lose a life. When you have lost all your player's lives, the game ends.

Use the top right hand corner red stop sign to stop the animation.
Then Click the Green Flag in the top right corner to Play Again.

This post contains the third of a series of tutorials that will result in our final full soccer game.

You will have needed to have completed Parts 1 and 2 before being able to do this Part 3 tutorial.

Links to these previous tutorials are as follows:

The following YouTube tutorial shows the steps required to build Part 3 of the Soccer Game that is present at the start of this post.

Note that by adjusting the bottom right hand controls, it can be viewed full screen in HD. (Press Escape to return to this blog page when finished).

Here is the final Script for the "Kicker" that allows movement using the arrow keys, and keeps track of how many lives he has left.

Kicker Sprite Script Blocks

The following is the final script for the Soccer Ball, which takes care of scoring, as well as broadcasting some important messages to all of the other sprites.

Ball Sprite Script Blocks

Here is the final Goal Net script, which is very simple and just broadcasts a message to the Ball Sprite, every time the ball reaches the goal net.

Goal Sprite Script Blocks

Here is the script for the brand new sprite we added in Part 3 which supplies the "Game Over" sign when all lives are gone.

Scratch Soccer Game Part 2

Welcome to Part 2 of our Scratch Soccer Game. Click the top right hand corner green flag to start. (Make sure computer sound is on, so you can hear the sound effects).

Then use the keyboard arrow keys on your computer to move side to side and kick the ball. If you miss a ball and it goes through to the yellow line, then you lose, and the game ends.

Use the top right hand corner red stop sign to stop the animation.
Then Click the Green Flag in the top right corner to Play Again.

This post contains the second of a series of tutorials that will result in our final full soccer game.

In this second tutorial we add a Goal Net to our game.

The Soccer Player and ball were obtained for free from Cliker.com. We modified the player in Adobe Fireworks and resized him to around 50x50 pixels in size, then saved him as a transparent GIF file. (When doing this, we had to go into "options" while saving and turn alpha transparency on in Fireworks).

Clker Red Soccer Player Sprite

Soccerball Sprite

We obtained the Goals from an American Department store online catalogue, and changed their background from white to green using the colour replace painting tool in Adobe Fireworks.

Soccer Goal Sprite

Because the goals contained some white colour, they caused some false "out of bounds" problems, and so we fixed this by changing the game's out of bounds line from white to yellow by editing the background in Scratch.

The following YouTube tutorial shows the steps required to build Part 2 of the Soccer Game that is present at the start of this post.

Note that by adjusting the bottom right hand controls, it can be viewed full screen in HD. (Press Escape to return to this blog page when finished).

Here is the script code for the "Kicker" that allows the arrow keys to be used to move him left and right along the bottom of the screen.

Pt 2 Kicker Script

Here is the script code for the Goals that allows them to broadcast a message to the ball whenever a Goal is kicked.

Pt 2 Goal Script

Finally, here are all of the script code blocks for the ball.

Pt 2 Ball Script

We will finalise the development of this Soccer Game in upcoming Tutorials.

Our plans are to create scoring for the Goals, as well as creating lost lives for missed kicks, and track these as well. The game will also issue a "Game Over" message when all lives have been lost.

Keep an eye out for these tutorials in upcoming posts.

Scratch Soccer Game Part 1

Welcome to our Scratch Soccer Game. Click the top right hand corner green flag to start. (Make sure computer sound is on, so you can hear the sound effects).

Then use the keyboard arrow keys on your computer to move side to side and kick the ball. If you miss a ball and it goes through to the white line, then you lose, and the game ends.

Use the top right hand corner red stop sign to stop the animation.
Then Click the Green Flag in the top right corner to Play Again.

This post contains the first of a series of tutorials that will result in our final full soccer game.

In this first tutorial we build a kicking practice game, based on Scripts that we learned from a "Pong Game" by Darel Branson.

We purchased the soccer player image online from Fotosearch, and then used Adobe Fireworks to remove the ball and resize him down into a GIF file.
(We could have obtained a soccer player from Clker.com for free, but we really liked the Fotosearch player, and so we purchased him to use in our game).

Scratch Sprites need to be around 50 pixels by 50 pixels in size.

Any image can be resized and edited in Adobe Photoshop or Fireworks, unless it is already a good size, because it has come from a Sprite sheet.

The Soccer Player has been resized to be a 45x39 pixels sprite.

Soccer Kicker Boy Sprite

If you do not wish to buy the Fotosearch Player, then use the following soccer player image sprite which we have made from a free image obtained from Clker.com.

Soccer Kicker Boy Sprite

The Soccer Ball was obtained for free from Clker.com, and has been reduced to 30x30 in size, but can be shrunk in size in Scratch by right clicking on it and doing "Resize Sprite", and then using the sizing arrows.

Soccer Ball Sprite

The following YouTube tutorial shows the steps required to build the Soccer Game shown at the start of this post.

Note that by adjusting the bottom right hand controls, it can be viewed full screen in HD. (Press Escape to return to this blog page when finished).

Here is the code for the "Kicker" that allows the arrow keys to be used to move him left and right along the bottom of the screen.

Kicker Script Code

Here is the Ball Script, which controls not only the ball, but also the collision of the ball with the Kicker.

It also checks if the Kicker has missed the ball and the ball has gone over the white out of bounds line.

Ball Script Code

If you want to make the game more difficult, then simply increase the speed of the ball to a value higher than 9.

We are hoping to further develop this Soccer Game in upcoming Tutorials.

Our plans are to create a Goal Net to score Goals, and have "Goal" messages displayed. We also want to create negative points for missed kicks, and track these as well.

Keep an eye out for these tutorials in upcoming posts.
