Two bands from Norway's Black Metal Elite meet on this split CD. Also included is the "Trøndertun Tape & Grymyrk" demos by Thorns.
Snorre Ruch (aka Blackthorn) formed Thorns in 1989 alongside Faust and Marius Void. They were originally known as "Stigma Diabolicum" until changing it to "Thorns" about a year or so later. Much of what exists in the black metal world can be traced back to Ruch's work on his scarce demos. Shortly after moving to Oslo to concentrate on developing Thorns more, Snorre ended up joining Mayhem and contributed to the now iconic "De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas". He was also sentenced to 8 years in prison as an accomplice to the murder of Øystein Aarseth by Varg Vikernes (Burzum). After years of absence in the music world, Satyr (from Satyricon) convinced Snorre to write again and he released his debut album in 2001.
And of course the mighty Emperor, formed in 1991 by Samoth, Ihsahn and Mortiis in Telemark, Norway. They quickly recorded their first demo "Wrath of The Tyrant" and shortly after signing with Candlelight Records, Bard "Faust" Eithun joined this elite trio. After releasing their split CD with Enslaved in 1993, Mortiis left the band. Soon after they released "In The Nightside Eclipse". For more on Emperor's notorious history click: here
