This is good to see. High performance chips from Intel and a great design from Apple, this will be fun to see what is announced at WWDC.
I wonder if JOBS is acknowledging the hardware quality issues. APPLEs have deteriorated to hardware lemons. No better or even worse than any other quality laptop. I am not talking about those who got lucky... To me luck is not something I connect with exchanging my money with any product. We are consumers and should tell JOBS loud and clear, that we expect quality, especially from APPLE!
If and when APPLE will offer a new product, new design, new casing (material) we must be careful. Magnesium disintegrates in connection with heat, haha. Just kidding.

I do hope that processor speed bump will not be the only change in the new MBAs. However, looking at Samsung 9 's pricepoint and what it offers makes me feel discouraged that Apple will put larger SSDs in the new MBAs.
Perhaps the new selling points will be:
- much faster processors - closing the gap to the 13" MBP
- increased battery life - 5:30-6 hours on 11", > 7 hours on 13"
I think it's unlikely that we see larger SSDs as standard on MBA until IB

Hey, now that I bought an A/D converter, I could finally get my LDs to DVD and and selling off the LDs. Of allthe garbage on DVD surprising how much on LD still hasn't made it to DVD (and may never...:) )

Slow driving in the fast lane? I'll be slightly annoyed, but wait for a save moment and pass them on the right. Even if it's "illegal" in some states, those same states have laws against cruising in the left lane. Then again, I rarely drive more than 5-10mph over the speed limit, and tend to cruise in the middle lanes, or wherever there is the most room around me. I don't see how getting to where I'm going 5 minutes faster is a big enough deal for me to get angry, or endanger myself or others.

I'll probably come of sounding like a jerk and opening a HUGE can of worms with this, BUT...
I'm glad somebody else was thinking what I was thinking! Why do we constantly have to place a line between men and women, black and white, American and everyone else. If we actually want equality and unity and all those wonderful things, I think it's about time we stop dilineating between groups of people.
It can't be both ways... if women/minorities want equality in the work place, or government, or in society as a whole, there can't also be inequality in the world when it comes to things like this... men and women, black and white, straight and gay - they have to be equal across the board, or not at all. We can't have it both ways.
That said, bravo to Apple, U2, and anyone else involved here. Anytime you can use your power and influence to raise funds and awareness - no matter the alterior motives - it's a good thing.
Exactly, why just limit this to people with AIDS. That discriminates against people who are healthy.

Me neither. I wonder if the suspects were armed...or at least how smashing glass doors escalated into gunfire.
Moyank24,
If you go back and read more carefully you will see that there were three burglars against one guard and 40 shots were exchanged.
Three burglars shooting at one guard...I think that justifies the guard's action don't you?
Fortunately the guard was a better shot than the theives this time.

Wow. Good find. How is Apple even gonna dispute that.
Bottom Line, with this lawsuit, Apple has clearly declared they see Samsung as a very real threat. Samsung is MASSIVE. They are a true OEM. Look how they were able to pull off a revised Galaxy Tab 10.1 in a span of 2 months. That's true OEM muscle being flexed. Apple Knows this, hence their request to have the Galaxy devices removed from market.
What an absolute joke. I'm still a little shocked Apple is even suing.

There are a lot of sound business reasons for Apple to release an iPhone. But the biggest reason is that Steve must have a cell phone and you know he probably hates the industrial design and functionality.
I agree. That's our steve all right :D

I'm not sure why there is so much argument about the term "app". The trademark is for "App Store" not for "app". It would be like arguing that "Burger King" is not a valid trademark because "burger" is a generic term.
What about "Burger Store" ?

Why would a charity help women and children victims, but not men? Why not just offer help to "AIDS sufferers"?

He means CUT and paste hence the caps. Not copy. i.e. The text you select is both deleted and copied to the clipboard. I use it a lot myself in Windows and do miss it in OSX. Also allows you to easily move files around by CUT and pasting them :D
Exactly. You should be able to CUT a file and move it. I bought an app in the Mac App Store that does just that...
Should be built in.
That other thing that sucks in the folder view. I want folders first in A to Z, then files A to Z like in Windows... Not a default option....

The only problem with Conroe vs. Merom in an iMac is the heat production. I am sure it is possible to keep an iMac with a Conroe cool enough. What I think is very hard to achieve is to keep it cool and quiet at the same time. I have never, ever _heard_ the iMac in my office, and that is really nice.
Of course it would be possible to put something into the Energy Saver Preferences like a "Keep Quiet" option. If selected, processing power could be cut down when the iMac gets too hot to be cooled down without making much noise. You would still have the potential to get full performance if you choose so.
Called intel SpeedStep, implemented in all Core/Core 2 processors.

I am tired of getting rip off by the providers, phones need to be able to move from one provider to another.

But they don't sell rooms. They sell furniture. The app store sells apps.
In the world of legal mumbo jumbo MicroEvil has a point. app is a term not generic to apple
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/APP_(file_format)
The should just call it the iApp Store

Exactly. Apple needs to implement both of those features. They are not dealbreakers, but the make the experience more complete.
I use Hyperdock to enable the "window snap"... great app. And another app to allow files to be copy-pasted... can't remember the name of it though... available in Mac App Store.
BetterTouchTool also has a snap function. I use it all the time.

They wouldn't have to add more hardware. USB3.0 is backwards compatible with 2.0. They would only have to disable 3.0 protocols somehow or artificially speed limit it to 2.0 speeds. I wouldn't put it past them. I KNOW if they got Blu-Ray drives somehow included with their hardware (i.e. only thing available), they would STILL not support it except in DVD/CD mode. Apple will do what they think is best for them NO MATTER WHAT. They don't give a flying rat's hind end about what the consumer wants. Steve thinks he knows better than anyone and he has a whole army of groupies telling him he's right so how on earth could he ever imagine otherwise?
I think this is a bit paranoid. Blu-ray just isn't that great of a tech for Apple to justify the increased cost of adding it to the MacBook Pro. Yes, there is some bias due to their DLC, but I doubt that's the ONLY reason blu-ray isn't available. Plus, I'd rather go without a drive period on my next MacBook. Give me the space savings, extra battery life, etc and let me have a thunderbolt drive, since I never use the drive outside of... installing software, and even that's rare these days.

$599...I would expect at least 8GB, likely 16GB or a HDD (ala Nokia) to make that worth that price point for me ($1000 AUD roughly). Also video playback.
Did you see any PDA phone couldnt play video? $599 actually is a very low price. Many high-end PDA phones are selling close to $1000 even without a hard drive.
BTW, $1000 aud is $755 USD
