touch screen dialing sucks, not being able to feel buttons is actually a big deal, even though most numbers are dialed through contacts list.

Very true... I wish there was a way to make a touchscreen have a tactile feel... If there was a way, I'm sure Apple would be the one to do it.

The phone's look is indeed very similar.

Of course, Samsung's Android phone has many additional items such as their pulldown notification shade with built-in radio and orientation lock controls... which many people would love for Apple to copy.

The tablet is a different matter, and doesn't have the same look.

Wait, people actually still listen to actual radios?

But seriously yeaaaahhhh not a huge wanted feature by the general populace.

If there is a Special Event then we might see the new Ipod Video and maybe the Itunes Movie Store.

To go a little crazy, maybe the Media Center.

Updates for MacMini and Laptops at this time will be a simple Tuesday update on Apple's site. I see no reason to have an Special Event for that.

Well if they do the announcement late on Monday 12 in Cupertino that will be Tuesday in Paris (time zone difference is +9) so will comply with the tradition LOL  :p :D

Have you ever actually watched Netflix or Hulu on a iPhone or iPad over 3G? It totally sucks - not even close to what it looks like when stored locally, especially on the iPad.

    Tony

my point is that they stream from a location and aren't stored locally....
    they stream fine for me.

I think my next computer will be an Ivy Bridge MBA with Thunderbolt. My 2007 Macbook is getting a bit long in tooth.

Sounds like me as well! My 2009 15in MBP is still doing fine but I would love an ultra-portable that has the option for a fast external solution.

Haha, I agree. I always assume that Apple are about to bring their various desktop systems in line with their latest laptops technologically, and that assumption is very rarely wrong. :p

Seems like a "safe" rumor to me. He may even be making this up to build buzz, and probably still be right...

A FrontRow AirPort Express device (with remote) is a much more cost effective way than buying a Mac Mini. Personally, I would love to play music, show my family pics and videos on my living room TV, but found a $600 Mac Mini too pricey for that. To be honest, I don't need (nor want to pay for) video editing software, music editing software, etc for my living room. An XBox can do that for half the price and it does games. I haven't gone the XBox route because it just seems too 'weird' and I'm waiting for the 'right' device to come out. I hoping this is it. :)

I would have to see however how 320x240 would look on my plasma. I have a feeling I'd be disappointed....especially for $10...so the Movie Store thing may not be for me!!

It this utter ignorance and false sense of security in the Mac user base that I would use to my advantage if I were a cyber-criminal.
It's neither ignorance nor a false sense of security. It's an awareness that virus threats don't exist and no antivirus can protect against something that doesn't exist.
I've seen more than enough evidence over the past few years to tell me that it's far from safe.
No OS is immune to malware, but it's impossible to protect yourself from something that does not yet exist.
The latest Safari/Webkit hacking contest result alone should be enough to cause any reasonable person to take notice.
Hacking a browser and creating a virus that can infect Mac OS X are two different animals.
I think a few people will be changing their tunes the day the crap finally hits the fan.
The day it "hits the fan", news sites and forums will be buzzing about the threat, making most Mac users aware. At that time a protection to the threat will be introduced. Only an extremely minute percentage of Mac users are likely to ever be infected, should that ever happen. Any antivirus apps installed today will be completely useless in defending against a newly-introduced virus, because they simply don't know what to look for.

Hey I'm satisfied with my carrier. I think the last time I had any problems with coverage was back in the 20th century. I've got coverage even in the freaking underground. I'd have coverage in the middle of wilderness if I chose to go there. It's cheap as well, I never pay incoming calls, my phone has never been locked and it works pretty much all over the world, my operator has had packet data connection most of this century as well and 3g for several years. What more could I wish?

I guess you are a lucky dude!

From what I've heard, the quality is pretty close to DVD. Have you compared the two? What is your complaint about quality?

First of all I am not complaining. So don't jump to conclusions.
I am stating the obvious. DVD frame size is better than 640x480 frame size.
I acknowledge that the itunes movies are probably good. I just saying that I rather have the DVD frame size and quality. Plus I can have a physical DVD for back up with bonus, extras etc. It's just a preference.

The mortality rate of HIV is far higher in men than in women - and it always has been. You look this up very easily all over the web, on the CDC's website, and any number of other places... it's very clear. But if you really want to go there, here's an empirical medical fact: at its worst levels of infection (in the mid 1990s), HIV mortality rates were nearly 30 per 100,000 for men, and barely over 5 per 100,000 in women. Look it up.

Maybe we miss understand each other here, but Im talking about mortality rates of woman and children WITH HIV. Not mortality rates of all women and children. Those are two totally different things...

    See...

    http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/455527

Although in some studies HIV infection does not progress more rapidly in women than in men,[12] there does seem to be a propensity among women to progress from AIDS to death more quickly. Delayed diagnosis of HIV-1 infection could explain a more rapid progression to AIDS. Escalating numbers of women contract HIV-1 infection each year, with increasing morbidity and mortality as a result of underrecognition and undertreatment of the disease compared with that in men.[2] Identification of at-risk women is a crucial step in ensuring adequate treatment. A recent study in Baltimore showed that women who use crack or cocaine but not intravenous drugs may still be at great risk for HIV infection because of their involvement in high-risk sexual behaviors and their history of multiple partners.[13] Thus, the range of women who are at risk is broader than initially was realized.

Women With H.I.V. Found to Die Faster Than Men

Women who are infected with the virus that causes AIDS die faster than men with the infection, a large study has found.

No medical reason for the difference was apparent, said the study's authors, led by Dr. Sandra L. Melnick, an epidemiologist at the University of Minnesota School of Public Health. They suggested that women may wait until they are sicker before seeking care or may be treated differently.

The study tracked 768 women and 3,779 men, all infected with H.I.V., the human immunodeficiency virus, for about 15 months and found that women were 33 percent more likely to die than men who were comparably ill when they were enrolled in the study.

I just want them to bump up the Macbook so then I can go ahead and buy my fist Mac. I just want to buy it when its the most current.

Ya, that's that I'm hoping. For the same reason too. I've used macs forever, but never owned my very own (other than an old PowerMac 7500). I also hope they update the ipod soon, I want to get the latest and greatest but I need to order by wednesday :-p

Thing is though... if the new top end MacBook Pro 2.3 can keep up with and beat even a current 8 core Mac Pro in some instances and trounce the quad core model, just how powerful is a top end Sandy Bridge iMac going to be :confused:

And seeing as Apple blessed us with quad core in the laptops, I would bet my remainder of my hair on my head that the top end iMac option at most will have six core sandy bridge :D

I think there is an error on the iMac performance page.

    It shows:

    For i5
    283912

    Then for i7
    283913

Shouldn't it show faster performance for the i7?

I sent an email to someone who works on their website asking them to double check that.:D

I thught was strange as well at first, but I believe that the comparison is between i5 1st gen vs 2nd gen and i7 1st gen vs 2nd gen.

I admit they do indeed do these things... or have done these things in the past. But the situation that I spoke of was last week, also every time I have called them they have worked with everything and entered things just right so that if I wanted to change my plan it would not be prorated at all.

    Christopher

I suppose everyone's experience is different. I've never had problems with Cingular and have never been with any other company because of that. They've always cooperated with me and have handled the problems accordingly.
